Operations limit
Every plan has a maximum number of operations you can have at once. The limit is a count of operations across all operation kinds and both surfaces — hide, rename, and sort, on shipping and payment.
What counts
Section titled “What counts”- Shipping hide operations, shipping rename operations, shipping sort operations.
- Payment hide operations, payment rename operations, payment sort operations.
- Both enabled and disabled operations count. The toggle only affects whether the operation runs, not whether it exists.
Draft or in-progress operations in the form don’t count — only saved operations in the list.
What doesn’t count
Section titled “What doesn’t count”- Plan templates. The plan list is fixed and not counted against your limit.
- Settings (locales, weight unit, notification email). Those are not operations.
- Operations from other apps.
The counts
Section titled “The counts”The current limits are listed in Plans and feature gating. The home dashboard shows the current usage as current / limit operations used with a tooltip per operation kind.
What happens at the limit
Section titled “What happens at the limit”When you reach the limit, the Create Operation button on the operation list is disabled and a banner appears at the top of the list:
You have reached your plan limit of N operations. Upgrade your plan to create more.
The banner has a Manage Plan link that opens the plan picker.
To create a new operation, you have two options:
- Upgrade your plan — see Managing your plan.
- Delete an existing operation — operations can be deleted from the list view. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone, but the operation is unpublished from checkout before it’s removed from the database.
Disabling without deleting
Section titled “Disabling without deleting”If you want to keep an operation around for later but stop it from running, use the enable/disable toggle. Disabled operations count toward the limit, so if you need to free up a slot for a new operation, you have to delete one.
