Plan and billing

Billing for Checkout Commander is handled through Shopify App Subscriptions. The same card on file with Shopify is used for all charges, and subscription management is shared with all your other Shopify apps.

The first time you select a paid plan, Shopify starts a 14-day free trial. You can cancel during the trial and won’t be charged.

To see how much time is left on your trial, open Manage plan in the app. The remaining trial time is shown at the top.

As a paid plan approaches the end of its billing period, the app sends a series of reminder emails to the addresses in your notification settings:

  • 2 weeks before — first warning, with a link to update billing.
  • 1 week before — second warning.
  • 1 day before — final warning.
  • After expiry — the plan has lapsed; the app has moved your shop to the Developer plan.

If a reminder email isn’t being received, check the Shop notification email and Profile notification email settings — those are the addresses the reminders go to.

When the subscription lapses (e.g. the card on file fails and Shopify cancels the subscription), the app:

  1. Receives a webhook from Shopify.
  2. Moves your shop onto the Developer plan (or the Shopify Partner plan for partner stores).
  3. Removes the delivery-customization and payment-customization functions from your store.

After step 3, your rules are no longer running at checkout. Shipping and payment methods return to Shopify’s defaults. The operations you created are kept in the database — if you re-subscribe on a paid plan later, they come back online.

You’ll see a banner at the top of the app on every page until you re-subscribe. The banner has a Re-subscribe link that opens the plan picker.

  1. Open Manage plan from the navigation.
  2. Pick a plan. Your existing operations will count against the new plan’s limit — if the new plan has a lower limit, you’ll need to delete operations before the plan change completes.

The plan change is immediate. The function is re-registered and your operations are live again within a few seconds.

If a charge fails (e.g. expired card), Shopify emails you directly and retries the charge. If retries fail, Shopify cancels the subscription and the expiry sequence above kicks in. Updating the card on file with Shopify re-enables the subscription without going through the cancel/re-subscribe flow.

Cancelling a subscription stops future charges; Shopify does not refund the current billing period by default. Contact Shopify support directly for refund requests.
