Settings reference

Settings are configured in the app under Settings, in the navigation. They are split into two scopes: Shop Settings (which apply to the entire Shopify store) and Profile Settings (which apply to the user signed in to the app).

These apply to the whole shop, regardless of who’s signed in.

  • Where: Settings → Shop Settings → Default Weight Unit.
  • What it does: Sets the unit used by default when you create a weight-based condition (shipment_weight). Existing conditions keep the unit they were created with.
  • Options: Kilograms, Pounds, Grams, Ounces.
  • Where: Settings → Shop Settings → Primary Locale.
  • What it does: The locale the app falls back to when a customer’s locale doesn’t have a specific translation. Default: en.
  • Format: A locale code, e.g. en, en-CA, fr, fr-FR, de.
  • Where: Settings → Shop Settings → Available Locales.
  • What it does: The list of locales your shop supports. Rename operations use this list to populate the locale dropdowns for translations.
  • Format: One locale per entry, with a language code and optional country code. The form shows the locale code (e.g. en-CA) and an optional display name (e.g. English (Canada)).
  • Where: Settings → Shop Settings → Shop Notification Email.
  • What it does: The shop email address that receives critical notifications from the app, such as plan expiry reminders. Independent of the Shopify store’s primary contact email.

These apply to the currently signed-in user.

  • Where: Settings → Profile Settings → Notification Email.
  • What it does: The user email address that receives critical notifications. The shop notification email and the user notification email are independent — you can have different addresses for shop-wide and user-specific alerts.
  • Where: Settings → Profile Settings → Marketing Preferences.
  • What it does: Lets you opt in to product updates, special offers, and educational content from Checkout Commander. You can unsubscribe at any time from the same screen or from the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
  • Format: Three independent toggles — Product Updates, Special Offers, Educational Content.

Click Save at the bottom of the settings form to apply your changes. A toast notification confirms the save. Some changes (like adding a locale) trigger a re-publish of the operations metafield so that the change takes effect at checkout.

Each setting has a default value the app uses when you haven’t set one explicitly. To return a setting to its default, clear the field and save. There is no separate “reset” button.

  • Locales — how the locale settings are used by rename operations.
  • Installation — the first-run settings to set.
